Fishing and vacation resort in upstate New York or TV?

My wife and I live in Montreal, which is near the borders of NY and VT. We want take a short holiday in late February. We want a nice little place, perhaps with a hot-tub that allows pets. I want to be about skiing and maybe some trout out of season or fishing. Can anyone recommend something?

i know both places very well …. upsate NY: fishing: Ausable River near Lake Placid is one of the best trout rivers everywhere, I'm not sure about fishing regulations in this time of year, but should be easy to find with some research Ski: Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid is also a mountain resort very well, besides the city of Lake Placid is very picturesque and historic with all the Olympic venues .. lake placid general would be very close to you in Montreal also Vermont: Stowe is a complex slopes, one of the best in New England .. Stowe village is very picturesque too …. whole area has much to offer after-ski and visits plants from Ben & Jerry's, covered bridges, plenty of bars microbrewed, etc. .. Burlington will be a fun town to see too – if you want to travel i a little further there are Killington and Okemo in Southern Vermont, nothing .. i dont knoiw on trout fishing in Vermont Vermont:
